….and I’m sort of working on gift knitting. I’ve got a few things on the needles, and am trying to figure out what to get my Dad in particular. I honestly have no idea…last year I knit him a hat, which he wears a lot, and for his birthday before that I knit him socks, which I only saw him wear last Christmas day. I won’t be knitting him anything until he wears those socks more.
I can’t believe it’s been 8 weeks since school started! And Thanksgiving’s on thursday! Wow!
…and it’s here and all about politcs. This won’t be about politics anymore. Promise. Unless it’s knitting politics.
…where our government is getting the billions of dollars they want to pump into the economy?
Just wondering. It’s not like I’m not a voter or taxpayer or anything. It’s not like I’m already without the hope of social security when I retire, or anything. It’s not like I’m a republican man who just started a war so we could get oil to destruct the planet that my kids and grandkids will maybe not be living on because of this stupid war.
(Does that even make sense?)
Me, I just want, oh, I don’t know, a hope that all that money that gets deducted from my paycheck at my crummy job I’ve worked for the last two summers will ACTUALLY BENEFIT SOMETHING rather than DESTROY PEOPLE AND/OR OUR PLANET.
What politicians have to remember, is that while kids may not be able to vote now, in a few years they will be able to. So their actions not only affect current voters but future voters as well. Because of a war that was started when I was 12, there was NO FREAKING WAY I was registering for the GOP party. NONE.
So, I’m just saying, THANKS A LOT MR. BUSH, FOR MAKING ME HATE YOUR PARTY & SPENDING MY HARD-EARNED MONEY ON A WAR I DON’T SUPPORT. THANKS A WHOLE LOT.
(Was this post even coherent? Basically, what I want to know is where the gov expects to get the $$$ to jumpstart our economy when we got ourselves into this crap with a war we could never afford. That’s all I’m saying).
“Rosa sat so Martin could walk.
Martin walked so Barack could run.
Barack ran so our children can fly.”
[This was actually posted on November 5th, but have yet to take the clock on my blog off Daylight Savings time, so because I posted it at a little after 11 PST, it thinks it’s the 6th. But it’s not. Gonna go fix that now].
I don’t know what I should say, so I’m going to post something that I wrote last night while trying to do my homework. Well, I can say that it’s obvious that for many people, and especially for people I know. I’ve heard few (at least at my school) that are unhappy that Obama got elected. I talked to my best friend, who’s still in high school, and there were a lot of people there who weren’t too happy…sucks for them!!!
Anyway…here’s my race rant.
Barrack Obama is a man that can truly be defined as “African-American”, because his father was actually born in Kenya.
But calling some one “African-American” isn’t always politically correct; in fact; most of the time it is not. Think of it this way. If a couple born in Ireland moved to the US and has a child, that child is Irish-American. But if that child has a child with a person who was born in America, that child is just American. Yet we call black people “African-American” and most of them are not children of people born in Africa – we are just labeling them based on the fact that their ancestors several hundred years ago were born in Africa. So some people call them “black-American”. But this is too much of a label for me. I mean, if I am telling you about my friend Caitlin, and I don’t tell you she’s a specific race, it is naturally assumed that she is white. In fact, we assume most people are white unless it is stated otherwise.
Why do we still care about race? Why can’t they all be just people? Why does Barrack Obama have to be the first black president? (It is okay for him to be the first African-American president, because in his case, it’s actually an honest term).
WHY CAN’T WE STRIP THE LABELS?????
There are a ton of non-american blogs reminding you, which just goes to show it doesn’t just affect us Yanks. Go here, here, here, and then GO VOTE!!!!!
Tomorrow is Election day!!!! I can’t believe it!!!!! I’ve never been this excited for something this big before.
I guess things must be pretty desprate if you can make videos that say your friend voted for John McCain as a joke. (I made one for my dad).
It’s been raining lots here today. Lots and lots. I spent the afternoon watching more Sex & The City. I love that show!!!!!!!! But not as I love Veronica Mars – SATC doesn’t have the sarcastic edge that I love, plus there aren’t mysteries getting solved every episode.
But, it’s pretty good.
and there are 2 days till the election!!!!!!!!
I didn’t see SNL live (and really, I don’t think it was worth staying up for, although I was up anyway), but here’s the link to it on NBC. Part 1 and Part 2.
Enjoy and don’t forget to vote!!!
